This fund honors the way Karen cared for those in her life; by supporting the athletes of the Harvard-Radcliffe Heavyweight Rowing Team
Karen Weltchek Mueller Leadership Award
Launched during the 2021-22 season, this award will recognize one athlete each from the men’s and women’s programs who best demonstrate Karen’s consistent ability to wisely and fearlessly navigate the boathouse dynamic to bring athletes together, creating faster boats and closer teams.
Empacher 8+ Boats
The Karen Weltchek Mueller Memorial Fund will donate two Empacher 8+ boats, named after Karen, to the Harvard-Radcliffe Women’s Heavyweight Rowing Team. Through the generosity of friends and family, the first boat has been ordered and fundraising for the second boat is underway. The boats will compete in their debut race at the 2021 Head of the Charles.
Athlete Support
The fund will enable the Harvard-Radcliffe Varsity Women’s Heavyweight Rowing Coach to support the athletes in meaningful ways, just as Karen would have cared for her teammates.
